MANUAL - In Utah, a student may not enroll full-time at more than one public school at the same time. Charter schools, including K-12 online schools, are public schools. Therefore, a student who is attending K-12 online classes through a district or charter school may not be enrolled full-time in Jordan School District. A charter or online student may participate in extracurricular and/or co-curricular activities as follows (R277-494-3 and §53G-6-704-705):
A charter or online school student is eligible to participate in an extracurricular activity not offered by the student’s charter school at their boundary (qualifying) school provided:
- The student meets the qualifying school’s standards and requirements;
- The student’s parent agrees to provide transportation;
- The student’s charter or online school school of enrollment pays a one-time annual school participation fee of $75.00 per student to the qualifying school at which the student desires to participate;
- The qualifying school should obtain a letter of acknowledgment from the charter or online school;
- Upon receipt of the annual payment, the student may participate in the activity at the school during the school year for which the student is qualified and eligible;
- The charter or online student participating in the extracurricular activity shall pay all required student activity specific fees to the qualifying school (see the Extra/Co-Curricular Fee Schedule in the “School Resources” section);
- If the charter or online student qualifies for a fee waiver, the charter or online school of enrollment shall pay the school participation fee and any waived student activity specific fees to the qualifying school; and
- All fees, including school participation fees and student activity fees shall be paid prior to participation in the activity at the local school.
A charter or online school student is eligible to participate in co-curricular activities (up to three) not offered by the student’s charter school at their boundary (qualifying) school provided:
- There is room in the desired course(s) for the charter or online student;
- The student meets the qualifying school’s standards and requirements;
- The student’s parent agrees to provide transportation;
- The student meets the same attendance, discipline, and course requirements expected of any full-time student;
- The charter or online school shall determine if the school will allow students to participate in co-curricular courses at the qualifying school;
- The qualifying school shall obtain a letter of acknowledgment from the charter or online school;
- The student’s charter or online school of enrollment pays a one-time annual school participation fee of $75.00 per student to the qualifying school at which the student desires to participate;
- Upon receipt of the annual payment, the student may participate in the activity at the school during the school year for which the student is qualified and eligible;
- The charter or online student participating in the co-curricular activity shall pay all required student activity specific fees to the qualifying school. For additional fee information, go to http://fees.jordandistrict.org/
- If the charter or online student qualifies for a fee waiver, the charter or online school of enrollment shall pay the school participation fee and any waived student activity specific fees to the qualifying school; and
- All fees, including school participation fees and student activity fees shall be paid prior to participation in the activity at the local school.
A charter or online school students enrollment at the JATC for extracurricular or co-curricular activities is limited to WFS (Wasatch Front South) Applied Technology Consortium students only. Consortium students may enroll under the following conditions:

- The charter student is in the 11th or 12th grade;
- The student meets all established prerequisites, if applicable;
- The program has space available (priority is given first to JSD students and then to WFS consortium students);
- The student is enrolled prior to the deadline for enrollment established by the JATC;
- The course must NOT be offered at the charter school;
- The student must be a resident of the school or District (for JATC);
- Charter must pay the $75 fee to the school PRIOR to enrolling; and
- Parents register and pay associated school and course/activity fees unless they qualify for fee waivers, then the charter school pays these fees. For additional information on school fees, go to http://fees.jordandistrict.org/
A consortium student accepted into a two-year program as an eleventh-grade student may continue enrollment in that program the following year; however, if the student desires to change programs, the student will be subject to the enrollment processes outlined above.
